Share how contemporary landscape architecture could improve an underperforming space in your community.
Submit a short essay and a hand-drawn napkin sketch, and you could win a $2,000 grant to fund your participation in the 2019 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture in San Diego. 13 grants will be awarded.
How to Enter:
1. Explain your idea.
In 500 words or less, share your thoughts in a written explanation. Our judges will be looking for strong, well-communicated essays that help elevate Landscape Architecture as a discipline that catalyzes positive change.
2. Submit a hand-drawn napkin sketch.
Illustrate your idea with an original, hand-drawn sketch using one color of ink with no shading, on a napkin no larger than 6x6 inches. Take a picture of your drawing and submit it as a quality JPG file between 1-3 MB.

3. Provide a title of your sketch.
Describe your entry in 50 characters or less.
* Save your napkin! If you are selected as a grant winner, we will ask you to send us your drawing so we can display it at the 2019 ASLA Conference in November.
You must be an Associate ASLA member or Full ASLA member who has earned a degree or advanced degree in landscape architecture during or after January 1, 2009. (See citizenship requirements below.)

Submissions will be accepted between April 29 and May 27, 2019 at 11:59 PM PST. Winners will be notified in July 2019. Grants will be awarded in split payments prior to, and following the ASLA Conference in November 2019 (see details below).
Our panel of three practicing Landscape Architects will select the 13 best responses. Judging will be based on napkin sketch (30%), written explanation (30%), and overall presentation of all entry materials (40%). Learn more about the judging criteria on the FAQ page.

2019 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture

At Anova, we believe in the power of Landscape Architecture to help solve some of the most signi cant challenges facing our society, such as stabilizing our climate and increasing mutual understanding across diverse members of society.
Anova created this grant program to help accelerate individuals’ careers in Landscape Architecture. We believe that education and sharing ideas drives personal growth, and the ASLA Conference provides an exceptional opportunity for engagement, learning and networking.
Along with the grant, all winners will be publicly recognized on the Anova website and at the 2019 ASLA Conference in San Diego. The award winner determined to have the single best answer will receive first-place recognition.
Payment of the $2,000 grants will be split as follows: to help cover attendance costs, each individual winner will be awarded $1,000 in July. The remaining $1,000 of the grant will be awarded when Anova receives an email from recipients displaying proof of attendance in at least three classes, eld sessions, workshops or general sessions during the conference. Winners must provide such proof of attendance by no later than December 23, 2019.

Open only to all those in the U.S. in Lawful Status as de ned by 6 C.F.R. 37.3 (including any U.S. citizens, lawful U.S. non-citizens, lawful permanent residents, and those in valid non-immigrant status) residing in any of the 50 U.S. states and D.C. who are Associate Members or Full Members of the American Society of Landscape Architects and earned a degree in landscape architecture during or a er January 1, 2009.
